The Intruder: Odd one out game

The file contains 12 odd one out exercises for students to identify "the intruder" and justify their choice. This activity is great as warm up at the beginning of the class to engage the students and get them to speak in English or as time filler. I usually do this activity with my youngest EFL secondary school pupils orally but they can write down their answers too and work individually, in pairs or in groups.

Answers are not included because in each group of words there might be more than one possibility as to which item does not belong.
